He has Venus in Taurus – is he a good bet?

love astrology 13He has Venus in Taurus – is he a good bet?

The question is: he has Venus in Taurus in his Vedic birth chart. What do you make of that?!?

I’ve had a number of enquiries, one from the wife who herself has Venus in Vedic Pisces, so let’s take a ‘case example’, whilst of course keeping full confidentiality.

Well, this gives us the opportunity for a little exercise. We can learn how to evaluate the standing of a planet in the Vedic birth chart – an important skill!

There are eight questions below. But actually relax: evaluating this sort of thing just becomes second nature when you see a Vedic birth chart.

And, remember, the computer program works out such things as a planet’s exaltation and fall and standing in the chart for you.

But do note that with these tools of analysis, very sure evaluation of a planet’s standing in a birth chart is achieved in Vedic astrology.

You can enrol on my Master Vedic Astrology course, where you learn these powerful methods.
The course involves you working on two focus charts: yours and mine, and it’s from beginner to master level. Because we work with the charts of two flesh and blood people, this keeps the cause emotionally authentic and grounded.
And the course has the additional very special feature of how to develop enlightened awareness from the exceptionally sure declaration given by Vedic Astrology, and how to bring higher consciousness to that sure declaration.
See the website: www.mastervedicastrology.com.

But let’s return to our marriage example. First of all, let’s start with, is a potted ‘one-size-fits-all meaning’ of Venus in Taurus. What are we to make of Venus in Taurus?

Venus in the Vedic sign Taurus is in its own sign (swakshetra). This position, if located on an angle, creates a Malavya Yoga, indicating the highest manifestation of Venus’s qualities. Keywords: Well-Developed Love and Prosperity.
Favourably, this is: Attractive, refined, good manners, educated, a pleasant person; drawn to a comfortable, elegant lifestyle with good food, clothing, and home; artistic, pursues partnerships and lovemaking; kind, generous, lives around well-placed people and circumstances; honoured and respected; good finances.
Unfavourably: Seeks too much leisure, overindulges, lives off the graces of others, lethargic, partnership problems, expects partner to do all the work, throat problems, phlegm, thyroid, glandular imbalance, swellings.

So, on the face of it, therefore, this Venus in Vedic Taurus is ‘strong’. But, always remember: ‘strong’ can be ‘strong for ill’, as much as it can be ‘strong for good’.
On the face of it, therefore, one would tend to say that this placement of Venus is ‘good’ and ‘powerful’. This is because Venus is in its own sign. But of course, remember, a strong Venus could be indulgent and vulgar and sybaritic, and blindly and crassly materialistic.

The point is, you would need to ask further questions to really work out whether ‘Venus in Taurus’ was ‘favourable’ or ‘unfavourable’ in this specific husband’s Vedic birth chart.

The questions you would have to ask are such as:

Q1. What other planets are in Taurus? If malefic Ketu was there, for example, this would be a karmic bad script for love: melting down relationships because of a dysfunctional reaction in this life to rejections that occurred in a past life.

Q2. What planets are in the other sign that Venus rules, namely Libra? If malefic Ketu was there, for example, this would be a person who would melt down relationship in favour of driven questing me first Rahu in Aries.

Q3. Then you would have to check out what House Taurus is in the man’s chart. If it was the 10th House, an angular house, this would be strong for positive purposes, but if it was in the 8th House, this would give all sorts of shadows to resolve.

Q4. Remember, the sign that the planet Venus is actually exalted in, is Pisces, not Taurus. Here is a useful list of planets’ Mulatrikona, Exaltation and Fall which you can refer to, to work out a planet’s standing in the birth chart:
TABLE: MOOLATRIKONA SIGNS OF THE PLANETS:
Sun                         Leo
Moon                     Taurus
Mercury                 Virgo
Venus                     Libra
Mars                       Aries
Jupiter                    Sagittarius
Saturn                    Aquarius
TABLE: EXALTATION AND FALL OF THE PLANETS:
exaltation/fall applies to the whole sign, though the most intense degree is also shown)
Sun          exaltation 10º      Aries        fall 10º   Libra
Moon      exaltation 3º        Taurus     fall 3º     Scorpio
Mercury exaltation 15º       Virgo        fall 15º   Pisces
Venus     exaltation 27º       Pisces       fall 27º   Virgo
Mars       exaltation 28º      Capricorn fall 28º   Cancer
Jupiter   exaltation 5º        Cancer       fall 5º     Capricorn
Saturn    exaltation 20º      Libra         fall 20º   Aries
Rahu       exaltation in Taurus             fall in Scorpio
Ketu        exaltation in Scorpio            fall in Taurus

Q5. Friendship and the effect of Lagna Lord: You always need to take into account whether a planet is in friendship with the Lagna Lord, the ‘Lord of the Ascendant’ (or Ascendant Ruler). So you see from the following Friendship Table that if (to quote another example) the man’s ascendant is Leo, for example, well, Leo’s ruler, the Sun, does not get on well with Venus, because a strong Sun eclipses Venus. As an example, Sun conjunct Venus people tend to be so full of themselves they eclipse love.
Here is the Friendship Table:
TABLE: PERMANENT FRIENDS AND ENEMIES:
Generally speaking, planets can be divided into two groups:
Group 1: Mercury, Venus and Saturn are friends, because they are rulers of the air and earth signs.
Group 2: The Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter are also mutual friends, because they are the rulers of water and fire signs. This is a rule of thumb.
There are also more detailed rules for friendships and animosities between the different planets, see below:
TABLE: PERMANENT PLANETARY FRIENDSHIPS AND ANIMOSITIES
PLANET           FRIEND                  NEUTRAL              ENEMY
Sun                    Moon, Mars,           Mercury                  Venus, Saturn
Jupiter
Moon                Sun, Mercury          Mars, Jupiter,        None                                                                                                                           Venus, Saturn
Mars                  Sun, Moon,             Venus, Saturn       Mercury
Jupiter
Mercury            Sun, Venus              Mars, Jupiter        Moon                                                                                                                            Saturn
Jupiter              Sun, Moon,              Saturn                    Mercury, Venus
Mars
Venus                Mercury, Saturn     Mars, Jupiter        Sun, Moon
Saturn               Mercury, Venus      Jupiter                   Sun, Moon, Mars
Rahu/Ketu       Mercury, Venus      Jupiter                   Sun, Moon, Mars
Saturn

N.B. According to most astrologers, the Nodes of the Moon: Rahu and Ketu have the same friendships as Saturn. However, not all astrologers give Rahu and Ketu friends and enemies because they are not real planets.

Q6. Aspects to the planet: You would also need to consider if the man’s Venus in Taurus received a benefic or malefic aspect from another planet in his chart. Here is a Table summarizing the Aspects rule:
VEDIC ASPECTS SUMMARY (Aspects from the planet to Houses)
All planets: conjunction and opposition (1 and 7)
Mars:           4 and 8
Jupiter:       5 and 9
Saturn:        3 and 10

Q7. Nakshatra Analysis: You definitely need to ask what Nakshatra or ‘Vedic Lunar Sign’ does Venus occupy in the man’s chart?
Vedic Astrology has a powerful and wonderful 27-sign Lunar Zodiac: The Nakshatras.
The three Lunar Signs occupying the sign of Taurus are Krittika, Rohini and Mrigashira. Which one of these does the Man’s Venus occupy?

In more detail they are:
a. Krittika: 26.40′ Aries – 10° Taurus: Krittika is Sharp, penetrating, critical, ambitious, determined and focused; Aggressive and fiery. Ruled by the Sun (see above) its energy is Rakshasha (demon).
b. Rohini : Rohini is 10° – 23°20′ Vrishabha (Taurus). Rohini is sexually seductive, elegant, snobby and attractive and looks down on those whom they consider not up to their own standards. Ruler: Moon (Venus is not a friend of Moon, see above). Symbol: The Chariot and a Temple.
c. Mrigashira: 23.20′ Taurus – 6.40′ Gemini: Restless, nervous, searching, curious and communicative. The traveller or the investigator.

Q8. Nakshatra Navtara Sequence: The last thing that would become second nature to you as you work through my course is to ask yourself what is the position of the Nakshatra occupied by his Venus when you count from your own natal Moon (called your Janma Nakshatra)? This question points us to the ‘Navtara sequence’ and ‘special Nakshatras’ methods of working with Nakshatras.
Personally, I know I need to be careful of Rohinis because they are the 5th Nakshatra from my natal Moon in Pisces. The 5th Nakshatra from janma has the quality of ‘Pratyak’ giving incompatible qualities of struggle, challenge and revile.
But if, on the other hand, his Venus was 2nd Nakshatra from one’s Moon Nakshatra, then this would be good for one’s wealth, because the second Nakshatra is: Sampat = food, medicine, mother and wealth.

Note with regard to Navtara sequence of this actual example, that the wife’s Venus is in Nakshatra 26, and the man’s Venus is in Nakshatra 5, so his Venus is 7 Nakshatras from the wife which is ‘Vadha = Slayer, Vanquisher, Death’. So nothing remarkable there! I suppose some might say steamy!
Venus is square his nodal axis, which makes it fated in evolutionary astrology and no surprise, it’s his Atmakaraka (his soul indicator): love is an unfinished project from his previous life calling out to be perfected in this one.
In this test example, the man’s Venus is rashi sandhi (at the edge of its sign:Taurus) which may mean he’d have to make a special effort to display love.
And his Venus receives a wide square axis from Ketu in 4th House Aquarius, so scripts of rejection may mold expression of love this time.

So this example exercise gives you a very  small example of the sophistication of Vedic astrology’s methods of evaluating how a planet will manifest in your life.
Each planet accurately states a portion of our karma that we incarnated to work at in this life.
The whole Vedic birth chart is geared to a statement of incarnational life purpose.

But of course the level of consciousness of the astrologer is always crucial in properly wielding the vastly sure and sophisticated tool that is Vedic astrology.

Of course, it is important to note that in the actual full ‘Vedic Astrology of Love’, called the ‘Ashta Kutas’ system, all but one factor actually compares the Moons of the couple (not Venus); with the final measurement being comparison of the two Mars.
