Important news in a difficult year!
For example, between 27th June 2016 and 7th November 2016 the favourable Adhi Yoga is created in the heavens for some. Adhi Yoga is a special yoga in the amazing, sure, inspired and powerful Vedic Astrology – a yoga which gives success and wealth, rise in position or respect, when it occurs either in the birth chart or by transit.
There are other possibilities in the predictive astrology for the year ahead for a more fortunate energy to run in your life, but this blog post focuses on Adhi yoga as an example.
Adhi Yoga transit is an exceptional period for making progress – both professionally and financially. Adhi Yoga will give you better ability to inspire trust and respect in others and increase the benign and philanthropic facets of your nature.
Adhi Yoga is a beneficial yoga where benefics Jupiter, Venus and Mercury are in the 6th, 7th and 8th House from your natal Moon or Ascendant. (The Ascendant is called Lagna in Vedic Astrology).
Whether or not you have Adhi Yoga affecting you by transit, it is a really good idea to get one of my expert predictions> My predictions always include both western and Vedic Astrology. 2016 is a year of very difficult energies and it is a good idea to get a prediction whatever your birth chart.
And my predictions always offer links to healing and empowerment modalities.
As I said, Adhi Yoga is created in 2016 between 27th June and 7th November and at different times in that period, this valuable and powerful yoga will affect different people.
2016 is a difficult year of very tense, driven and torsion energies for many people. This is due to three difficult transits in particular, so it is a very good idea to also get news of when your success can manifest!
The three difficult transits of 2106 are:
1. The Saturn Mars transit in Vedic Scorpio from February to September.
2. The Jupiter Rahu (North node) transit in Leo from January to August.
3. The Kal Sarpa Yoga (all the transiting planets encased between the Nodes of the Moon) from 28th September 2016 to end January 2017. See my first and second Blog post on the subject of Kal Sarpa Yoga.
I personally have found many difficulties in 2016 for example tortuous situations coming from my adoptive family. I used this information about the favourable Adhi Yoga Transit upcoming as part of my decision making on really very big issues – like the very frightening and difficult whether to contest a Will and the death and rebirth decision to emigrate to Ireland.
The strength of results you will experience from Adhi Yoga will depend on strength of your Moon/Lagna. The type of results will depend on your birth chart and also on how your predictive periods (the immensely powerful Dasas of Vedic Astrology) and the other transits of this period in 2016 are affecting you personally at the key times.
The prediction also has to take into account how, if at all, you will be affected for good or otherwise by the eclipses at this time on 18th August, and 1st September and 16th September 2016.

There has been an obsessional murder of a British Member of Parliament, Jo Cox, which leads me to predict that the Brexit campaign for Britain to leave the EU will probably be derailed to an extent, because Brexit will be linked to rather dark obsessional whipping up of emotions. I predict that the Referendum whether Britain should leave Europe will now be swung more in favour of Remain. Brexit was ahead in the polls before the assassination. Campaigning has been suspended. I predict that the murder will now swing the British Public into a less inflamed state of consciousness (which is actually whay Jo Cox was campaigning for). In this post we look at the astrology of obsession and violence that is current now from two negative transits (Saturn-Mars and Jupiter-Rahu/North Node and we also look at Tools for healing; tools for defusing the tendency to get caught up in other people’s obsessions and manipulations.
The challenge facing the British public is that the Jupiter – Rahu (North Node) conjunction (see definition below) will actually be exact on referendum day, and so the British public could still be caught up in the obsessional dark energy despite many of them ‘seeing the light’ from the xenophobic tragic killing.

My prediction has come true: not least with two obsessionally-driven murderous events:
a. The killing of British Member of Parliament Jo Cox, as part of the increasingly vicious run up to the The UK’s EU referendum is on 23 June on whether Britain should leave the EU or stay.
b. The Orlando massacre in USA a few days earlier.
This post both looks at the astrology of these two violent obsessional events.
And in its concluding paragraph my partner Maggie Pashley shows how obsessional or violent energies can be dealt with and handled in a way that defeats and goes beyond their destructiveness and darkness.

I actually made this prediction of obsessional or fundamentalist violence coming in 2016 for two main reasons:
a. Jupiter-Rahu: Because Jupiter and Rahu (North node) would be both transiting together in the Vedic astrology sing of Leo, from 30th January until 11th August 2016, creating a potentially dark, dangerous and driven obsessional combination known as ‘Guru Chandala Yoga’.
And:
b. Mars-Saturn: Because the two malefics; Mars and Saturn would be transiting together from 21st February until 18th June 2016, and then again from 12th July to 18th September 2016, in the intense Mars-ruled Vedic sign of Scorpio, creating an energy of oppression and death.
But then there’s a third malefic configuration which will affect the world in this difficult year:
c. Kal Sarpa Yoga: Don’t think that the energies of 2016 get much easier after the Jupiter-Rahu and the Mars-Saturn two transiting conjunctions have ended in August and September respectively. From 28thSeptember 2016 there’s something awfully special and new:, all the planets in the heavens are one side of the Rahu – Ketu axis (this is the North node-South Node axis). Kal Sarpa Yoga is a divisive energy where all the planets are caught between the Nodes of the Moon. It does not really end until the end of January 2017 so it will have a big effect on the US Presidential election. And by weird and unfortunate coincidence, this Kal Sarpa Yoga divisive energy also exists in Donald Trump’s birth chart – and it exists in the heavens as well at the same time! As above, so below! What a coincidence! What on earth will it mean??
British MP Murdered: So now I want to look at the assassination of British Member of Parliament Jo Cox that took place 16th June 2016 at 13.48 hrs in her Birstall constituency during the final days of run up in the torrid and virulent UK Referendum due to be held the following week on 23rd June. whether to leave the EU. Here’s a photo of Jo Cox:
As he shot her three times and stabbed her, her alleged killer: shy and reclusive 52 year old Tommy Mair shouted ‘Put Britain First’. Here’s a photo of the alleged assasin:
Ironically, the obsessional killer has probably achieved the very opposite of what he thought.
I suspect the British people will actually now sense that the anti-EU campaign is tinged with obsessional and vitriolic unhealthy energies.
I write this even though there are of course some good reasons to say that Britain’s membership of the EU carries some bad consequences for Britain.
But I do believe the effect of Jo Cox MPs murder may well, ironically, be that the referendum vote will be swung against current trends for ‘Brexit’ and instead the British people will now vote for Britain to stay in the EU.
And maybe the ideals of worldwide community will have more sway if there’s a feeling that the bubble of contention and in-fighting has been burst by this tragedy.
Jo Cox’s UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said, “We have lost a much-loved colleague, a real talent and a dedicated campaigner for social justice and peace.’ Tragically she leaves behind her husband and two little children.
In this Post I draw on both western and Vedic Astrology. In fact all my Astrology Readings draw comprehensively and expertly on both astrologies. My courses in Vedic Astrology include western astrology cross-over and my course in western astrology include Vedic astrology if wished. And there’s always the belief that astrological perception can be linked to healing modalities.
So let’s look first at Jo Cox’s birth chart:
Next, look at Jo Cox’s death chart. What do we see? Here’s her western astrology death chart: 16th June 2016 at 13.48 hrs, Birstall, UK:
Next, let’s put the two charts together. Here’s the ‘bi-wheel chart’: Her death chart outside, her birth chart inside:
And lastly let’s look at the Vedic Astrology for the moment of her death:
What do we see? Well, clearly in the Vedic death chart we see the two transiting conjunctions that I predicted last year would bring obsessional and fundamentalist killing in 2016:
Jupiter-Rahu: Note that the obsessional and dark Jupiter-Rahu (North Node) conjunction that I spoke about above has very, very nearly reached its exactness. It actually becomes exact at 22.45 hrs on 24th June.
Mars-Saturn: The oppressive and deathly Saturn Mars conjunction is still in force. Mars actually drops back into Vedic Leo briefly from 18th June to 12th July.
So, this is an obsessional murderous reaping of the astrological energies I described in my prediction last year.
And as I said, I personally feel that the killing will actually prove to be self-defeating because the British will react against that horrible energy and vote to stay in the EU.
Ironically, campaigning has been suspended at the moment for the referendum and political leaders are due to visit the scene of her death. An acid and virulent debate has been cut short! Hopefully a bubble has been burst?
Note from the western astrology chart for the moment of Jo Cox’s death that in the heavens, opposite the Jupiter-Rahu conjunction is the Neptune –Ketu conjunction. The Neptune-Ketu conjunction is deeply mystical in the charts of healers; but in lower consciousness individuals it manifests instead as the twisted torsion of delusion.
It is noteworthy that the Jupiter Rahu conjunction and its opposition Neptune Ketu conjunction that’s in the heavens’ is exactly conjunct Jupiter in her birth chart. If we had space to go into the gestalt of her death astrology, I would demonstrate the great significance of this.
It is also noteworthy that Uranus is transiting in the heavens opposition to her natal Uranus (and indeed, transiting Uranus is conjunct her natal Chiron).
And the other question is: is there something in the birth chart of Jo Cox that attracted violent death? Well, very answering quite superficially, yes: she has Mars on her Ascendant which can attract violence (and is quite pugnacious).
The Orlando Massacre:
Let’s end this exploration of the predicted obsessional and violent astrology of 2016 by also looking at another obsession-driven incident of murder: The Orlando Massacre.
On 12th June 2016, from 02.02 am to 04.00am, in Orlando Florida, Omar Mateen aged 29, born in New York on November 16, 1986 of Afghan immigrant parents, murdered 49 gay people and wounded many others at a gay nightclub.
Partly this was obsessional reaction to his denied gay sexuality, and partly it was connected to Islamic fundamentalism.
It is reported that Mateen vented on Facebook before and during the massacre: “America and Russia stop bombing the Islamic state,” the gunman wrote, according to the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. “You kill innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes … now taste the Islamic state vengeance.”
Then, in his final post, an ominous warning: ”In the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic state in the USA.”
In the middle of killing 49 people, Mateen also called 911 to pledge allegiance to the terror group and he called CNN News to say, “I did it for ISIS. I did it for the Islamic State.” An analysis of Mateen’s electronic devices showed searches for jihadist propaganda, including videos of ISIS beheadings.

Note that, yes, this chart too has both the transiting Jupiter – Rahu conjunction and the transiting Mars – Saturn conjunction, the subject of the prediction I made last year.

When faced with such violence expressed against innocent people it is natural to feel outraged and shocked, to feel compassion for those left bereaved, to mourn for the lives cut short.
It’s easy to feel angry and want to lash back at the perpetrators of the violence but when did revenge anger ever help?
And Jo Cox’s husband has himself appealed for people to honour his wife by resisting hitting back and focussing on creating the kind of world his wife campaigned for – for more peace and compassion.
So let me share some tools I use to cope with all the mixed emotions that get stirred up in me by these difficult energies. They come from an approach called Access Consciousness, one of the many healing modalities I use worldwide. which offers practical tools to help open up greater awareness and choice.
Tool 1: Who does this belong to?
If you find yourself feeling very angry, sad, confused or any other strong emotion you automatically assume it’s yours because you are experiencing it.
But we pick up lots of different energies from those around us, we absorb thoughts and feelings from our family and friends, from the media, from our culture that isn’t really ours.
So ask ‘Who does this belong to?’
The next time you feel caught up in strong emotions and see if you don’t begin to feel lighter, or freer…you might have to ask a few times but if you begin to feel something lifting, it means it wasn’t yours and you can simply ask ‘Return to sender to consciousness attached’ – you don’t need to know who is came from.
If you do get that it is yours; You can ask “What energy, space and consciousness can I be to make the best choices I can here/to see this differently/to bring about more peace and understanding etc.
You aren’t looking for an immediate answer you are inviting in greater awareness and possibilities. You are asking to go beyond a reactive kick-back response. And it’s not about being a doormat, you might get the awareness to take decisive action or come up with a solution or a way of seeing that you’d never considered before.
People who become obsessional and violent are most certainly taking on board a whole host of judgements from other people and allowing themselves to get whipped up in a whirlpool of hatred.
Tool 2 What energy can I be that would contribute to the world I want to live in?
Again this is an invitation question, not one looking for a immediate one-line answer. If you want to live in a more peaceful, kinder world you might become aware of all the ways you judge yourself or your family or those around you and make a choice to be kinder and open to communicating differently, not forcing or pressurising yourself. Even apparently little steps can make a big difference, create a ripple effect in the world.
Thinking about the world you are creating by the choices you are making today can help you make those apparently small steps: If I choose this what would my life be like in five/ten/fifteen ..you name it years time? and thinking of a different option: If I choose this what would my life be like in five/ten/fifteen ..you name it years time? – which feels lighter, freer, more expansive. That’s where life is calling you.

Every student handles the runes differently. Here is a very philosophical section from a long and vibrant report from a student in California, USA, on the rune of joy: the 8th Rune: Wunjo: ‘All the runes are medicine in their various ways, but probably none more so than Wunjo, which is pure healing joy. Joy is connection to something far beyond human beings and doings. It is not connected to hate, fear, or war (or elections). The Norse people used joy to give their people something to fight for and preserve, because it was needed. But now, we need to go beyond the concept of tribal boundaries and into universal life, with a diversity of expressions. The one and the many.
Wunjo is the “oneness” when we recognize the commonality of all things (both organic and nonorganic) and the “many” when we begin to appreciate the myriad forms of existence, to value all of it, while recognizing our own uniqueness within it. Wunjo is also the flow of existence, where forms appear and disappear, but the essence, the spirit always remains. When we truly realize this, we no longer fear. Wunjo is the antidote to fear.
For my rune journey, I travelled to Runewald, my sacred runic forest. I noticed that there were colored pennants along the path, with the rune Wunjo inscribed on all of them. They were gaily waving in the breeze. Each one seemed to beckon me onward, further along the path. Eventually the path led to a meadow, where there was a festival going on. I noted that the meadow was lined with pennants hanging from the tree boughs, of the first Aett of runes – Fehu, Uraz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kennaz, Gebo, and Wunjo.’
Hagalas: By contrast, here is a very vibrant use by another student of the energy of the rune of dreadful times: the 9th Rune, the Hail Rune: Hagalas:
‘So my Hagal journey began with me in an open space, turning to the beat of the drum. Hands upraised, I am catching hail grains in my hands. As I do, the grains explode into the star burst version of Hagal. Then they dissolve into water which streams down my hands, arms, and body to the ground. The constant streams of water running down my hands, arms and body dissolves my outer skin until finally a new layer free of old patterns is reached.
The pattern-free “me” then steps forward and begins forming the Stav Hagal stance of crossed fists in front of my chest with the palms facing away from me. I now repeatedly push those crossed fists outward away from my chest and from me. Starburst Hagal shapes explode like so many fireworks going off. Again and again, I repeatedly repel and “send back” all the negative energies and curses that have been and are being sent to me. Again and again I send them back, until every one has been “returned to sender”.
Next I begin stomping one foot then the other against the ground, turning first one way then the other way, as Native Americans do when they dance. As I stomp, more “old patterns” fall away from my mind and body. Until finally, not one remains.
The journey ends with me fresh and ready to create new patterns and scripts for my life. I feel a sense of positive anticipation.

It is such a joy to work with students learning the Ogham.
The Ogham is the alphabet of the ancient Irish Druids. Its main set of correspondences for each letter is the Trees: the deep physical, healing and mystical energy of trees. It also links to the Otherworlds of the Celtic Irish and to the ancient Gods and Goddesses of their culture.
Learn the Ogham: I have students all over the world and their work can be very different to reflect the different spiritual quest of each student. But each student’s report on their journey to connect with the energy of one tree after another is healing and inspiring to read.
The reports are all so different. But here are a couple of realisations received by a student in Spain (expressing herself in English language) who was journeying through the Celtic Otherwords from her Divine Center where every Ogham journey starts and ends: she was journeying to reach the energy of the beautiful and fay alder and rowan trees:
First Alder Tree: ‘The mist of the alder grove clung to my eyes as I walked past through the Northeast watchtower and I wondered if this reflects that I must not rely on my outer senses for the responsibility to be the sole vehicle for the analysis of the inner me. I felt I was not rightly using my unphysical senses to interpret the world, and thus deceiving myself in the process.’
Later on, Rowan Tree: ‘The lady I encountered was almost too bright to be looked at, even if veiled. I stood in awe before her. The mirrors of her deep eyes were deceptively shallow, and I found myself entrapped into her stare for what seemed like the longest of time, until I felt laid bare and lighter, somewhat dizzy and disoriented, almost carried out by a breeze, letting go of what unneeded anchors I had built for myself, those items that I first felt were essential in defining who I am when surrounded by others. I floated back to the swamp, whirling around, but steering into the right direction even if I let go, back to the cave that is my divine centre, seeing it evolve as the entrance becomes grander, welcoming more light into its core.’
Think of it: there’s also the very different energies of Oak and Holly: these have such different energies from Rowan, for example, and we need all these presences in our life and all the other trees.
Another student thoroughly researched the studies of the Alder tree on many levels. Here is a fascinating excerpt from her extensive work:
‘Alder helps you face up to the things you’ve been avoiding. It also was believed that Alder allowed access into the faery realms. Alder tree essence is invigorating, and it also reduces nervousness and anxiety. Alder roots enrich the soil, and its timber resists decay. When immersed in water it hardens to the toughness of stone.
Because it was the source of fine strongly colored dyes, it was associated with the art of fabric making and the Goddesses of spinning. Alder reminds us of the need to blend strength and courage with generosity of spirit and compassion.’

It has been so very beautiful to connect with the trees in their wild and natural settings. In fact each letter of the Celtic Ogham alphabet can also be used for healing and empowerment.

Uranus is transiting conjunct the Moon in my birth chart. This transit can only happen once every 84 years. Uranus takes 84 years to orbit round the Sun, so he can only transit conjunct your moon in your birth chart once in a life-time at most.
And when it happens, it’s like the Struck Tower Card in the Tarot.
Here is a computer-generated ‘one-size fits all’ brief indicator of what to expect. And I’m using the example of my own astrology because it’s happening to me now:

‘This transit brings unexpected emotional upsets during which you will break down old emotional patterns and experience new freedom. You may undergo times of uncertainty, frustration, moodiness and irritation as you attempt to change your patterns of behaviour. Your loved ones may not immediately respond positively to your need for change. Your home life may be in disarray. However, your intuition is strong during this transit and you can use your inner knowledge to pursue an emotionally-fulfilling path which respects both your needs and the needs of loved ones.’
Well, obviously the frustration, moodiness and irritation don’t apply to me personally – well, at least that’s my story!!!
Here’s the graph of the timing of my Uranus to Moon transit so you can see how it works. So first of all Uranus goes forward over my natal Moon, then he retrogrades back over my natal Moon, then he heads forward again and passes over my natal Moon for the last time to head on round the zodiac on his 84-year orbit:

So, here’s my ‘Uranus to Moon Transit’ story, and how I believe I have turned round what felt like cataclysm at the time, for good and for better!
What happened is that my (adoptive) family suddenly blew apart. My very elderly adoptive mother had a sudden fall and it was all decided that day, without my knowing, that she go to live with my adoptive sister several hundred miles away. And this was in circumstances that were just like King Lear! As you can imagine, I got the nasty Texts and the bossy letters! It’s been a difficult adoption. This is what my soul chose for me this life time. My Moon is actually in a special condition called Gandanta in Vedic Astrology, so these events were ‘meant’ and for my hard learning. Gandanta moon means that ‘Mother will not be there for you’ and its divine intention is that out of such a difficult karmic knot that can only tighten every time you try to loosen it, you in fact learn to stand up for yourself.
At the same time as the fall, I decided to contest a Will made by my adoptive brother. He had made it secretly just before his death in an alcoholic dementia unit, despite the fact that what’s called a ‘Statutory Will’ had been made some years beforehand by the Court of Protection.
He had dedicated the last two years of his life to seeking to disinherit me following one of his earlier Care Homes who later kicked him out, calling me in to take action on his shoplifting alcohol and his being aggressive to staff, etc. Unsurprisingly this made me unpopular with him!!!
In his sixth and final replacement Care Home, as he was dying, he found an ambitious young solicitor with all the expenses of setting up his own firm at that time. And this young solicitor secretly made a replacement Will for my brother to overturn the Statutory Will, telling my brother that although he was mad when the Statutory Will was made, ‘but you’re sane now’.
The ambitious young solicitor the new Will on the basis of a simple tick box test for sanity administered by a General Practitioner doctor, whereas the Statutory Will had been made with the involvement of four consultant psychiatrists! Needless to say: the new Will disinherited me.
It was a shock to me to find out when he died just afterwards that a new Will had been made. And I feel it raises the public interest that this could happen. But I decided that I must stand up for myself and stand up for what I saw as Truth, and contest this new Will. And of course, this made me even more the family target. It’s hard and sad being the sane one in a family! It takes a lot of courage and overcoming fear when all your life you’ve been treated as the invisible one who had to always acquiesce and stand aside.
The Uranus to Moon Transit is like the ‘Struck Tower’ Card in the Tarot.
The challenge is to make it ‘The Magician instead’!
Interestingly, my partner, Maggie Pashley, who is a very widely qualified healer, also has Uranus transiting her Moon just afterwards. This is because her Moon is just two degrees after my Moon in her birth chart. So my ‘Struck Tower Card Experience’ was shortly to be her ‘Struck Tower Card Experience’.
So, What happened? We both became convinced we must move away from the darkness, and indeed be re-born, and set up in a new life.
We did have some support. For example we have a wonderful group learning the Runes with us in Latvia, and they came up with the Rune Divination that in taking the dangerous challenge I would succeed.
I had a psychic reading/psychic surgery healing from a wonderful woman in the western USA: Elizabeth Hendricks, who had told me that I should visit the rocks of the land of my birth family for healing and empowerment.
My own astrology convinced me I should take the risk and head for my destiny. In my current western astrology there was not just this Transit of Uranus to my Moon. Uranus had also just started to transiting into my 10th House which offers ‘Revolution in Career’, and my ‘Progressed Moon’ was just entering my 4th House which can favour move of home.
My Vedic Astrology was insistent in offering me success. In the wonderful predictive periods of Vedic Astrology, I am in the final sub period of the long Rahu period, or ‘Rahu Dasha’. Rahu is the North Node of the Moon. It’s the indicator of where the thrust of your incarnational destiny is taking you this life-time. Rahu Dasha always ends with the final sub-period of Rahu-Mars, a turbulent ending to a period where you are impelled to make that final push to your incarnational destiny in order to prepare for the next Dasha, which in my case starts this November 2016. The next Dasha in the sequence is always Jupiter: and it’s Jupiter Dasha, which will bring me the crowing success of my life, snatching this from the teeth of darkness and fear, I feel.
So I am telling you all this, partly to demonstrate what the ‘Transit of Uranus to Moon’ can bring you, and partly to show how I expertly combine both western astrology and Vedic astrology in my astrology readings and courses.

So: what did we decide to do in the face of this ‘Struck Tower’ Uranus to Moon Transit experience?
Well, we decided to emigrate to Ireland, to Westport in fact. It’s on the beautiful western coastline of Ireland, not far from where my Irish birth family are (who don’t know I exist!).
My partner Maggie Pashley looks forward to a new project of sharing her many healing modalities in different towns and healing centres in Ireland as well as her online worldwide work. I look forward to continuing all my worldwide astrology readings and courses, but I am also looking forward to adding in shamanic, runes and ogham retreats. And I also seek to add in work on the sacred earth of nearby Croagh Patrick Mountain.
I suppose my message arising from this first of three bursts of my Uranus Transit conjunct the Moon in my birth chart, is that you may have to find courage to stand up for yourself. You will have to expect the unexpected. You may need to find healing (and my astrology readings and courses always point to healing modalities to bring out the best in what your astrology describes.
There were lots of synchronicities and special omens. It’s worth mentioning a chance seeing of the film Winter’s Tale in New York also meant a lot to me as the shock initially dawned: the film’s story is that we are each born to manifest our special talent. If we do this, we go on into the Light, which in fact joins all living beings, except that there are some beings dedicated to the darkness whose mission it is to stop souls heading to their light. A White Horse appears as rescuer at key moments.
And so my Uranus to Moon transit experience convinces me that above all you must aim for that special spark for which you incarnated: the special quality or achievement in your life that you came here to be and do.

Who are we: our Nature or our Nurture?
My astrology readings and astrology courses always include focus on this dimension in the understanding of ourself: Nature v Nurture.

In the first post on this subject of ‘Nature v Nurture’, I showed how western psychodynamic astrology has developed a method for demonstrating to us what is our Nature, and also for demonstrating what is the effect of our Nurture. See how Nurture alters Nature. It’s a good idea to read that post first.
In this second post, I develop the theme further to demonstrate how we can actually erect a chart of our Nurture – and our Nurture can, of course, so often be so different from our Nature.
Nature tends to be inherited characteristics. Nurture is typically the effect on us of our earliest upbringing.
Nature v Nurture astrology clearly demonstrates to us answers to questions such as:
What are the forces that drive us?
What are the routes to us developing understanding ourself?
What are the gateways to our healing and empowerment?
And my work is exceptional in that it always combines western astrology with Vedic Astrology.
Sometimes the effect of our Nurture actually produces quite a different person from the Nature we were born with.
Sometimes, this can actually be to better equip us for our life.
But more usually, the skewing effect of our Nurture actually puts us out of touch with qualities that we would have benefited from greatly that are within our inherited Nature – qualities that have been overlaid or submerged by our upbringing.
And so a whole life script needs to be developed to overcome the challenge of lost Nature, of often unwanted effects of Nurture.
This is a challenge of understanding; it is a challenge of transformation. It is a challenge to become the person we were born to be.
In fact, in psychodynamic western astrology, a specialised birth chart can be erected to show the effect of Nurture. It’s called the House Chart.
Our ordinary birth chart in western astrology (our Natal Chart) has the twelve signs of equal size. The twelve Signs, and the way the planets are distributed within them, demonstrate our inherited Nature, and in western astrology, it is the twelve Houses that are of unequal size (in all but one of the House systems) and it is these unequally-sized Houses that show the effect of our environment. It is the Houses, therefore that show the effect of our Nurture. The Signs show our Nature.
However, in the ‘House Chart’ of Nurture, it is the twelve Houses that are of equal size, and so the twelve signs therefore become of unequal size, and so the planet aspects alter.
In the first post on this subject, I showed the example natal chart (or Radix Chart or Birth Chart) of a man, and I went on to demonstrate his ‘nature v nurture’ calculations which show the difference done to his Nature by his Nurture.
Here in this second post on the subject, I repeat a showing of his natal chart, but there then follows his House Chart which is the chart of his Nurture. You can learn all about this in my astrology readings and astrology courses:

So let’s look at some of the differences in this man’s life scripts created by his Nurture as opposed to his Nature? OK, let’s focus on just a couple:
Venus in the Birth Chart: You can see that in his Radix or natal chart, that Venus is in an unaspected subpersonality: Venus aspects only Neptune. This gives a Venus principle of love that is sensitive and idealistic and visionary, only ‘the perfect’ is really good enough. It’s an unaspected subpersonality because the Venus – Neptune aspect (the green semi-sextile line) does not connect to any of the other planets in his birth chart. So this means that sometimes he might just inhabit this sub-personality, whereas other times he might live in the rest of his chart and be out of touch with his love principle. In fact the Venus-Neptune subpersonality is even actually cut off from the rest of the chart by the super-hardworking and detailed Mars square Saturn (the red square aspect line). Hard work puts him out of touch even more with his love principle (until he learns about this destiny and alters his way of life).
Venus in the House Chart: The House Chart shows the effect of his Nurture. Here you can see that, now, Venus is severed from the idealistic visionary principle of Neptune. Instead Venus is in a constantly driven square aspect (the red line) to spasmodic, impatient Uranus. Venus Uranus is wired and always wanting the new. It’s so at odds with the mystical Venus-Neptune aspect that is his Love Nature.
Notice that Neptune now becomes in the House Chart an opposition aspect to his Moon, making him ever unsure about what he really feels, ever deluded or confused, until he learns to disentangle the effects of his upbringing.
Pluto: Notice that in his birth chart or Radix, Pluto is a virtually unaspected subpersonality in his first house, giving a person who is very intense. But because Pluto is unconnected with the rest of the chart, he won’t always realise how intensely he is coming over. To have unaspected Pluto is someone who can sometimes be over-powerful, but at other times be completely out of touch with his own power, even abused. To have Pluto in 1st House is the person whose whole life is an endless series of death and rebirth experiences, and who has a deep tectonic intuitive knowing the moment he enters a room. But in the House Chart of his Nurture, notice that Pluto is caught up in an angry red T-Square aspect to his Sun – Moon opposition (he was born at Full Moon). This shows that his Nurture made him acutely aware of Head versus heart opposition in his life and he will be ever driven to reconcile the two.
So this is but a small taster of what the psychodynamic western astrology House Chart has to offer in unravelling scripts of Nature v Nurture in your life.

In psychodynamic western astrology it’s totally illuminating to look at the issue of ‘Nature versus Nurture’ in your life.
This is the first of two Posts on this subject.

So: what is the astrology of your Nature v. Nurture?
Planets in signs are our inherited Nature.
Planets in houses are our Nurture or the effect of our upbringing – most especially our earliest upbringing.
In other words, this is the ‘Nature versus Nurture’ debate. The Question is: ‘Who are we?’: are we our Nature or are we our Nurture?
Of course we are both: we are a mixture, and it is great psychological illumination to be able to consider the statement psychodynamic astrology offers on this question:
What parts of us are our Nature? what parts of us are the effect of our Nurture?
What was pretty well wiped out from our Nature by our Nurture? Can we retrieve it?
What was positively added by our Nurture? can we optimize it to overcome difficult inheritance?
And of course we can – and indeed we must go on from psychological insight to transformation and healing using that insight.
Note that all my Astrology Readings and Courses are attuned to the need to avoid from sticking at legalistic even disempowering astrological declaration. They have the over-riding imperative to go on to use the astrological declaration to in fact to achieve needed healing and empowerment: to use the astrological insight to achieve the special reason we incarnated to become this life time.
Here’s how the system of Nature versus Nurture works in western psychodynamic astrology:
Here’s a Case Example: a sample western astrology birth chart using Astrocalc: a man’s birth chart:
Here’s the same man: his western astrology birth chart using Megastar:
So, now, working from the birth chart, here is the man’s ‘Nature v. Nurture’ statement in psychodynamic western astrology, called a ‘Dynamic Counting Table’:
Notice that the Dynamic Counting Table assesses the effect of Nurture on the Nature with reference to Modalities and Elements (These are defined below)
The Dynamic Counting Table is the key Table which shows the effect of your Nurture (= most especially your earliest upbringing) on your Nature (= your inherited makeup).
So, still looking at the above example chart in terms of Modalities, you can easily see that this man’s upbringing or his nurture made him far more Cardinal than he were born to be.
In other words he was stressed to get noticed from the moment of his birth, he was stressed to push himself forwards to fill the gap: the deficit in love and attention.
His Cardinality was artificially increased from 41 points to 68 points, a huge increase! This will distort the way he lives and will stress him out and cause pressure on the adrenals and much more pressures in the body, and also distort relating patterns.
And still looking at the above chart example, in terms of Elements, you can easily see that his Fire was put out and his Water was greatly increased.
In other words, his Fire = ‘will and action’ had a cold deathly hand put on it, but his Water = ‘intuition and sensitivity’ was greatly increased as he tried to work out and understand what on earth were all the painful and distorting pressures he had been born into. Water puts out Fire!
So notice that his ‘overall signature’ in terms of his Nature is: Cardinal Fire (in other words he was born to be an Arian, a ‘must have it now Action Man’).
But his earliest Nurture/Upbringing wiped out his capacity for real actual action and created a new overall signature. It made him two very different things as an overlay or almost as a ‘wipe-out’: instead, as a result of his Nurture, he’s an equal balance of ‘Cardinal Earth’ (= Capricorn) and ‘Cardinal Water’ (= Cancer, mothering and caring, sensitive, clinging)

NOTE 1: MODALITIES AND ELEMENTS:
Your life is greatly affected in terms of the balances of your modalities and elements. So please note that Nature and Nurture are assessed in western psychodynamic astrology in terms of modalities and elements. Modalities are ways of going about things; elements are qualities of being. Here is more information on these:
MODALITIES:
Cardinal energy is extrovert, initiatory, working and doing
Fixed energy is stabilizing, security, seeking and acquisitive
Mutable energy is restless, reflective, seeking and changeable
ELEMENTS:
Fire is vitality spontaneity, intuitive faith in one’s own abilities
Earth is practical, efficient, realistic, sensual and security-conscious
Air is communicative, rational, thinking, emotionally detached
Water is feeling, sensitive, emotional, instinctive
NOTE 2: WESTERN AND VEDIC ASTROLOGY:
Modern western psychodynamic astrology, when expertly interpreted, accurately depicts our psychological make-up, the sub-personalities within us and issues of individuation and wholeness.
Vedic astrology which is far more ancient and powerful and accurately identifies the journey of the soul. It identifies the journey we were born to undertake. It describes the physical and psycho-mental circumstances we will attract into our lives as fates for us to work with. Vedic astrology asserts that these fates are chosen with reference to past karmas that have accrued in previous lives. Some of these karmas are fixed (drida): there is little we can do about them: we need to experience them =for a life-time in order to make the growth we need to undertake; other of our karmas are not fixed (adrida) – these we can learn to modify or eliminate or ‘burn’.
(Of course there’s far more to it than just that!!!)
